What is C5 Petroleum Resin

C5 Petroleum Resin is a kind of low relative molecular mass thermoplastic resin, generally the average relative molecular mass is between 1000~3000, the resin is yellow to light brown, has good performance of reducing condensation and increasing viscosity and improving the coefficient of viscosity, soluble in solvents such as benzene, toluene, xylene and so on, and can be miscible with EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer), polyethylene and so on.
The softening point of C5 Petroleum Resin is usually determined by the global method. Softening point is the most important property of C5 petroleum resin, which marks the hardness, brittleness and viscosity of petroleum resin. At present, the C5 petroleum resin produced in China can be divided into two series of 80~110℃ and 110~160℃ according to the softening point.

C5 Petroleum Resin is a by-product of the ethylene industry with a large output, and its effective utilization has become an important issue for the rational use of petroleum resources and the reduction of ethylene production costs. According to the different raw materials, C5 petroleum resin can be broadly divided into the following categories: mixed C5 petroleum resin, raw materials can be used after the initial separation or unseparated mixed C5 fractions; aliphatic C5 petroleum resin, concentrated m-pentadiene as the main component; dicyclopentadiene aliphatic C5 petroleum resin, dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) as the main raw material; copolymerization resins, which are also divided into C5/C9 copolymerization resin C5/ C9 copolymerization resins, copolymerization resins of C5 and other substances, copolymerization resins of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) with other substances; hydro-modified petroleum resins.
